of the 3rd October, 1946, I should be glad to know whether there has been any progress in regard to the proposal, mentioned in paragraph 5 of Sir Mark Young's despatch No. 69 of the 18th August, 1946, for a Government sponsored building society for financial assistance to small property owners.

2. I take this opportunity of correcting a typing error in my predecessor's despatch No.192. The phrase "and control legislation" in the

second paragraph of that despatch should, of course, read "rent control legislation".
